One week down

Well, today marks a week that we've been home with Harper, and I've got to say, I think we're doing pretty well. She eats and sleeps good, and really at night were averaging 4-5 hours of sleep. My pain is slowly going away, as is the swelling in my legs. I'm on a weigh restriction for a while yet, and can't carry Harper up or down stairs, which in our house is a problem since it's a tri split level...Luckily we have family to help out, and I can camp out on the upper level now that I can sleep in our bed again. See you later uncomfortable recliner!

Harper is awesome. She makes the best faces, and is such a scowler! She is definitely my kid. This photo was taken of me the day I was born, and I can't believe the resemblance to Harper, especially the hand placement, since that is generally where her little fist is.


Erich goes back to work on Monday, I can't believe how quick this first week went by. At first I thought it was taking forever, but now that it's going to be go time for me on my own (in general) it's a little scary. I wish more companies offered paternity leave for their employees. But, I guess I'm ready for the challenge.

Abbey is becoming more brave around Harper; she got her first few "kisses" in last night while I was feeding her, and again this morning when she was on the floor. She loves to lick her little ears and feet; and we thought our biggest problem would be with her toys :) She's slowly learning that she can't lick the baby, but she still tries to get some in whenever she gets the chance.

Pretty uneventful post after the previous one...I'm sure I'll have better stories over the next 7 weeks!

Love reading your blog. YOu look great and Harper is so cute! So glad you are feeling better and on the road to recovery. We have been thinking of you and are getting updates from Heather. Cannot wait to see her!

Good Bye First Trimester!

I can't believe that I will be 12 weeks prego next week, it has gone by so fast. It's hellped that I haven't have any sickness, which I am very grateful for. I've kind of have the opposite; I am hungry but nothing sounds appetizing, so as a result I've lost weight. I got a nice little lecture from my dr last week, so I've been trying to eat more, and I think after this weekend, I have to have put on at least 10 pounds! Friday night we had Applebees where we polished off mozzarella sticks, I had a steak and potatoes and veggies, all so tasty! Then today we had Hu Hot for lunch, and just had McDonalds for dinner. I didn't say it was healthy, but it was definitely fattening! I seem to be getting my energy back, there for a while all I wanted to do was sleep. Groundhog's Day

So, welcome to 2013!  January was full of busy-ness in the Kant home, what with potty training in full effect, work being super busy and, well, I'm just really tired.  Plus we moved out office into the basement and let's face it, out of sight, out of mind.  And despite the ipad and iphone within arm's reach, I can't figure out how to post from the damned things, so there you have it.  Like I said, January went by in a blur, but luckily the groundog (and more importantly, my mom, whose birthday is also today) didn't see their shadows, so yay! 6 weeks until Spring.  Harper has begun potty training (well, has been in panties full time since late December) and is doing great with the potty piece of it.  The pooping? Not so much, and what sucks is that she really couldn't care less when she drops one in her panties...this mom, however, could do without shaking poop out of panties multiple times a week. Our only saving grace is that she goes to the same place ...

What the heck's a woombie?

So, today's post is dedicated to the freaky baby items I've found online (we are not expecting, but are expecting to be expecting sometime this year, so I wanted to check out the market on baby stuff). I'm not saying this stuff isn't useful, it may very well be the best item there is, but I think they're weird. And so, in no particular order... * Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator: it's a doctor invented and doctor recommended snot sucker. An electric snot sucker. With built in filters. My question is, who is changing said filters? Not me, thank you. Then again, with the manual ones I bet you have to empty them somehow. Eww. Also, this doesn't actually go into their nose, it sucks it all out from the base of the nostril--that sounds like fun. Oh, and did I mention the suction is coming from your mouth? * Zaky --the tag line? It's like leaving a part of you with your baby. Yeah, if you have big creepy muppet hands maybe.
