Harper Jay

On Saturday Harper turned 2..  Is it cliche to still use the old saying, Where does the time go? Even if it is, I'm sticking to it. Where does the freaking time go? I noticed myself all last week thinking about where we were at that time 2 years ago.  Pretty crazy.  So, here are some items about Miss Harper.  I'll do another post later this week for her birthday.

Harper, you are such a kind, loving, sassy, headstrong kid. You are sensitive to others, but when you want something people better get out of your way.  You definitely do things at your own pace, which I guess we should have figured out the day you were born. I love to watch you play with your toys or color or see how gentle you can be with Abbey when you want to be.  I can't wait to see how much you change in the next year.  Love you Stinkerdoodle. Yeah, I call her Stinkerdoodle.  She's too young to hate it.

Here are some of your favorite things

Favorite Foods: hot dogs, cuppies (cupcakes), any kind of fruit, most vegetables, ravioli, fruit snacks, juice, yogurt, bologna and mac n cheese. You also prefer to eat everything with your hands, but when you use a utensil you balance between lefty and righty.

Favorite books: Curious George, The Bellybutton Book, Guess How Much I Love You, God Gave Us You, Nursery Rhymes, Mickey and Minnie Mouse books, and anything with Sesame Street.

Favorite Shows: She finally came around to Disney movies around 18 months, and are captivated by them, not sure if that's a good or bad thing. She particular likes Snow White because Heigh Ho is her favorite song. Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, Yo Gabba Gabba, any show with choo choos, Olivia, Dora, and of course, Sesame Street.

Favorite things to do: Color, play outside, blow bubbles, color with chalk, go to the park and on walks, play with friends at daycare, help Mommy in the kitchen, help Daddy with the yard work, throw the ball for Abbey, play keep away from Abbey, read books, play "baby Harper",  and hide under blankets.

Favorite words: No, Hide, I love you, Bye, Abbey, Mama, Daddy, go, outside, please, thank you, Timmy, banana, Elmo, cookie, cuppie, juice, apple, water...the list could go on. She is also into a jibber jabber stage, and I would love to know what it is she's saying.  She can also say all our family and her daycare friend's and teacher's names.

I'm sad that my baby is 2 and not really a baby anymore. Her teething spurts showed up last week, so I think having those late nights of rocking her back to sleep may have spurred those old feelings.  I am also excited to see her grow and change and see what kind of person she becomes.  Ugh, OK, tears are on the horizon, so I'll wrap it up here.

Good Bye First Trimester!

I can't believe that I will be 12 weeks prego next week, it has gone by so fast. It's hellped that I haven't have any sickness, which I am very grateful for. I've kind of have the opposite; I am hungry but nothing sounds appetizing, so as a result I've lost weight. I got a nice little lecture from my dr last week, so I've been trying to eat more, and I think after this weekend, I have to have put on at least 10 pounds! Friday night we had Applebees where we polished off mozzarella sticks, I had a steak and potatoes and veggies, all so tasty! Then today we had Hu Hot for lunch, and just had McDonalds for dinner. I didn't say it was healthy, but it was definitely fattening! I seem to be getting my energy back, there for a while all I wanted to do was sleep. I could still sleep all day, but today I noticed I wanted to do some chores, so I guess that's an improvement. I've also had some lower back pain, which seems to be worse when I sit, which ...

Harper Jay Kant has arrived!

The wait is over! On June 9th, at 5:40 pm, Harper Jay Kant entered the world, weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long! I am so happy to have her in my arms, as is Erich. During the pregnancy, I made the comment on multiple occasions that I bed I'd pay for it during labor, and boy did I...and so the story goes: Tuesday I began having contractions around noon, but nothing that was progressive or in any order, so we decided to just keep our plan to go in at 7:30 to be induced. I was admitted around 8, and the "ripening" agent was started. I was checked around 12 and had progressed enough to warrant starting the Pitocin (around 1). Contractions began, but I really couldn't feel much; it was a long night and I was too excited to sleep (especially after the nurse commented that with these contractions I could be pushing by 7 that morning...I knew it was too good to be true) so I spent the evening with the Lost crew from Season 2, and waking Erich ...

8.18.10

Well, our first week of daycare and work went great!  Harper really seems to enjoy herself there, she eats and sleeps and plays well.  And I've been busy at work so it keeps me from dwelling on her all day.  We had her two month check up on Monday; she weighs 12 lbs 2.5 oz, and is 23 inches long, both in the 75th percentile.  Her head size, which escapes me, was in the 50th percentile.  She has great neck control, and everything else looks good.  She also took all 5 shots like a champ!  She cried some, but I think part of that was hungry cries...we agreed that we've heard her cry worse when her dinner was late! We spent this past weekend in York for Great Grandpa Kant's 91st birthday.  We had fun swimming at the pool; all the boys end up trying to outdo themselves on the diving board, and then the little girls try to mimick their older cousins, uncles and fathers.  Harper hung out with Great Grandma in the shade, but I think she wanted in t...
