Groundhog's Day

So, welcome to 2013!  January was full of busy-ness in the Kant home, what with potty training in full effect, work being super busy and, well, I'm just really tired.  Plus we moved out office into the basement and let's face it, out of sight, out of mind.  And despite the ipad and iphone within arm's reach, I can't figure out how to post from the damned things, so there you have it.

Like I said, January went by in a blur, but luckily the groundog (and more importantly, my mom, whose birthday is also today) didn't see their shadows, so yay! 6 weeks until Spring.  Harper has begun potty training (well, has been in panties full time since late December) and is doing great with the potty piece of it.  The pooping? Not so much, and what sucks is that she really couldn't care less when she drops one in her panties...this mom, however, could do without shaking poop out of panties multiple times a week. Our only saving grace is that she goes to the same place each time, so we can at least try and catch it before it ends up an accident; she's a really fast pooper though!

We had a great Christmas with both sides of the family; we hosted at our house on Christmas eve with my family, something we haven't had the opportunity to do in a few years, so that was fun.  We spent Christmas day in York with Erich's family, also a good time as we got to share in baby Anna's first Christmas experience.  The following weekend we visited my Dad and Grandma in Hastings, and Harper had a blast there.  She was definitely spoiled by all her family and friends, and she has so much fun going from room to room playing with all her new toys.

This month at work will be a doozy, so I wouldn't expect anything more from me until March.  Par for the course I suppose :) Happy Groundhog Day all!

Just for the record, we had a lot of bake days with various people, so that's what these first 50 or so pictures are lol...

Harper Jay Kant has arrived!

The wait is over! On June 9th, at 5:40 pm, Harper Jay Kant entered the world, weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long! I am so happy to have her in my arms, as is Erich. During the pregnancy, I made the comment on multiple occasions that I bed I'd pay for it during labor, and boy did I...and so the story goes: Tuesday I began having contractions around noon, but nothing that was progressive or in any order, so we decided to just keep our plan to go in at 7:30 to be induced. I was admitted around 8, and the "ripening" agent was started. I was checked around 12 and had progressed enough to warrant starting the Pitocin (around 1). Contractions began, but I really couldn't feel much; it was a long night and I was too excited to sleep (especially after the nurse commented that with these contractions I could be pushing by 7 that morning...I knew it was too good to be true) so I spent the evening with the Lost crew from Season 2, and waking Erich ...

Good Bye First Trimester!

I can't believe that I will be 12 weeks prego next week, it has gone by so fast. It's hellped that I haven't have any sickness, which I am very grateful for. I've kind of have the opposite; I am hungry but nothing sounds appetizing, so as a result I've lost weight. I got a nice little lecture from my dr last week, so I've been trying to eat more, and I think after this weekend, I have to have put on at least 10 pounds! Friday night we had Applebees where we polished off mozzarella sticks, I had a steak and potatoes and veggies, all so tasty! Then today we had Hu Hot for lunch, and just had McDonalds for dinner. I didn't say it was healthy, but it was definitely fattening! I seem to be getting my energy back, there for a while all I wanted to do was sleep. I could still sleep all day, but today I noticed I wanted to do some chores, so I guess that's an improvement. I've also had some lower back pain, which seems to be worse when I sit, which ...

I never said I was a great correspondant....

..but almost four months between posts is ridiculous! I have no good excuse other than sheer laziness...that and I hate the way blogger posts photos, and it usually irritates me enough to delete my post anyway. So I will try to be better! I'll give some updates of what's kept me so busy, but I have no idea when they happen--I can't even remember what I did last week... Furniture shopping...Erich and I were under some strange impression that we had this wonderful discount at NFM for furniture through Home Real Estate, so we scoured that store at least four times looking for bookshelves, living room sets, entertainment centers, tvs, deep freezes, kitchen tables, hutches...you name it, we looked at it. And we could not find anything we liked, and by the end of the visit everything had merged into one big lump of data; my photos and notes taken throughout the trip looked like another language. And almost every trip ended in us bickering and leaving upset that we couldn't ag...
