Emails with Erich

A couple weeks ago I was stuck with the ipod after Erich had loaded it up, so I got to hear some tunes I don't generally chose myself...like Jay Z.  Which leads me into the following email conversations that entertained me fully, and I'm pretty sure drove Erich up the wall.  Enjoy. And I'm sorry maybe you had to be there...

Me: Very important question for you. Was Jay Z on Team Biggie or Team Tupac?

Erich: Neither.  He abstained, but he was close with Biggie, he just never took part in their beef.

Me: Lame.

Erich: You are lame.  What are we doing for dinner tonight?

Me: Read your emails nerd.  I said in the first one spaghetti.

So is jay z friends with diddy?  What about eminem, where did he fit into all this, or was it before his prime?

Erich: As usual, you are correct and spaghetti sounds great.  (NOTE! HE SAID I AM CORRECT, AS USUAL!)

They were neither friends nor enemies.  Jay-z was part of a separate group that stayed out of most of it, but he was definitely part of the East Coast portion of that beef.  Eminem came in after the fact.  The beef was over by that point as Tupac and Biggie were dead.

Me: (and here is where I just start messing with him) Is the Beef a rapper I'm not familiar with?  Or a group like Toni Tony Tone?

Erich: The whole Tupac Biggie thing was part of the East Coast vs. West Coast Rap beef.  Nobody liked each other.  It was Biggie versus Ice Cube, Dre, and Tupac.  Jay-z’s group stayed out of it, but they were East Cost by default.

Beef is another name for conflict in hip hop terminology.

Me: Tell me more Grandpa...

Part 2, later in the day.  I had hit a wall...

Me:  What kind of booze is Brass Monkey.  Do you think it's like a wine cooler?

Erich: If I had to guess, which is what it would be, I would guess a wine cooler.  Either that, or it is some kind of a Funky Cold Medina.

Where are these questions coming from today?

Me: Is Funky Cold Medina a rum?

Erich: I don't know.

Me: I'm just digging a little deeper into the Beastie Boys. And Jay Z. Who knows what other questions will arise today.

Erich: You are weird today.

I hope you are entering some competition about this stuff.

Me: Yeah. I am. Against you. You lost.

After all the Biggie/Tupac talk I did some more research and found that Erich was wrong, and Jay Z did side with Biggie. There is some interesting stuff about Gangsta drama on wikipedia.

Oh Kants, I needed this today! Ha ha ha! I try to explain gansta rap to Matt (whom I have recently dubbed the hardcore rap name "White Out"). We argued all the way to Beatrice about whether DMX or Ja Rule sang Party Up. I was all, seriously, White Out? You want to argue rap with me? I will so win this one.

Good Bye First Trimester!

I can't believe that I will be 12 weeks prego next week, it has gone by so fast. It's hellped that I haven't have any sickness, which I am very grateful for. I've kind of have the opposite; I am hungry but nothing sounds appetizing, so as a result I've lost weight. I got a nice little lecture from my dr last week, so I've been trying to eat more, and I think after this weekend, I have to have put on at least 10 pounds! Friday night we had Applebees where we polished off mozzarella sticks, I had a steak and potatoes and veggies, all so tasty! Then today we had Hu Hot for lunch, and just had McDonalds for dinner. I didn't say it was healthy, but it was definitely fattening! I seem to be getting my energy back, there for a while all I wanted to do was sleep. I could still sleep all day, but today I noticed I wanted to do some chores, so I guess that's an improvement. I've also had some lower back pain, which seems to be worse when I sit, which ...

Groundhog's Day

So, welcome to 2013!  January was full of busy-ness in the Kant home, what with potty training in full effect, work being super busy and, well, I'm just really tired.  Plus we moved out office into the basement and let's face it, out of sight, out of mind.  And despite the ipad and iphone within arm's reach, I can't figure out how to post from the damned things, so there you have it.  Like I said, January went by in a blur, but luckily the groundog (and more importantly, my mom, whose birthday is also today) didn't see their shadows, so yay! 6 weeks until Spring.  Harper has begun potty training (well, has been in panties full time since late December) and is doing great with the potty piece of it.  The pooping? Not so much, and what sucks is that she really couldn't care less when she drops one in her panties...this mom, however, could do without shaking poop out of panties multiple times a week. Our only saving grace is that she goes to the same place ...

What the heck's a woombie?

So, today's post is dedicated to the freaky baby items I've found online (we are not expecting, but are expecting to be expecting sometime this year, so I wanted to check out the market on baby stuff). I'm not saying this stuff isn't useful, it may very well be the best item there is, but I think they're weird. And so, in no particular order... * Nosefrida Nasal Aspirator: it's a doctor invented and doctor recommended snot sucker. An electric snot sucker. With built in filters. My question is, who is changing said filters? Not me, thank you. Then again, with the manual ones I bet you have to empty them somehow. Eww. Also, this doesn't actually go into their nose, it sucks it all out from the base of the nostril--that sounds like fun. Oh, and did I mention the suction is coming from your mouth? * Zaky --the tag line? It's like leaving a part of you with your baby. Yeah, if you have big creepy muppet hands maybe. I think the picture says enough about t...
